What Do Branding And Fashion Hunting Have In Common?

As a woman entrepreneur, you may be surprised that business “branding” is a lot like one of the hobbies that so many women out there today love, that hobby being “fashion”.  Don’t be mistaken, it isn’t all glitz and glamor, creating a brand is hard work, however there are a lot of similarities in “fashion” and “business branding”.  In fact,we as women entrepreneurs can learn from those in the fashion industry.

How? You may ask.  It is quite simple look at what they are doing.  When you go shopping for a new dress what do you do?

First, you determine where you are going to wear the dress?   What is the occasion, you want it to fit in with the atmosphere right?  If you’re wearing it to a wedding it must be formal most likely.  If you’re wearing it to the park for a picnic you would want it to be casual …… Read the rest

Branding Helps Your Business Stand Out

As business women and entrepreneurs, we all want our businesses to be successful.. In order to truly be successful we must find the magic link that allows us and our businesses to “stand out”.  I believe that this missing link for many of us is securing a “brand” that works for us.  Many times we base our brand on what we believe is popular or what is working for others rather than creating a brand that is unique to us and that truly fits us and our business.

If done properly your brand can be the “it factor” that helps you stand out from the crowd in the business world, no matter what your business is, or what industry or area of expertise you are in and no matter how saturated you feel your market already is, you can still shine.

Simply put your brand is your image, the representation of you …… Read the rest

You Are Your Brand

As a business owner, it is important to be aware of the fact that you are your brand.  Many business owners spend tons of time and money trying to discover and develop their own branding, when the truth is you are your own brand.  If you realize this early on you are aware of  how easy it is to take your own personality, your own strengths and who you are to develop a strong, personal brand that can be a powerful marketing tool for your business.

Business women in particularly can use this to their significant advantage.  More often than not women are intuitive and in touch with themselves and enjoy discovering their own unique personality, gifts, talents and strengths.  Once they do so, they are then able to turn those things into a winning brand for their business.  So, what is an enjoyable journey for most women becomes a powerful …… Read the rest

Business in a Box

The short answer is “Because…”: Why I started a work-at-home business!

At cocktail parties (not that we get out much after becoming parents), people ask me what I do and I explain, “I work from home doing what I love and raising my daughter.”

I know I’m talking to a corporate captive when this answer gets the scrunched up face and the quizzical look that implies they think it’s a cover story for watching Oprah all day. Then they think about it and say something like, “I could never work from home. I would go crazy!” I take that to mean they spend most of their days socializing with coworkers and not actually doing any work (studies support me in this belief).

The polite ones usually ask why I decided to do that – why take on the challenge of working from home AND raising a child. And thinking about it I realized …… Read the rest

No More Pain in the Neck

Author: Jackie Silver, author of Aging Backwards: Secrets to Staying Young

“Oh, my aching back.” We’ve all heard – and probably said – those words more times than we care to remember. A report published in the British Journal, The Lancet, found that more than a quarter of Americans suffer daily pain. Here are some tips to help avoid that pain and to combat it when it does occur.

Tips For Avoiding and Battling Pain

1) Lose weight. Carrying around too much weight puts pressure on the knees, back and all joints in general. Research shows that overweight women who lost just 10 pounds greatly controlled the increase of osteoarthritis of the knees.

2) Check your posture. When you’re standing, distribute your weight evenly on both legs, tuck in your stomach, relax your shoulders and don’t stand in one position for too long. When you’re sitting, don’t sit on the edge of your seat …… Read the rest

There’s a new trend out there. There are many people making big money online, living extraordinary lives and they all have something in common. People like Gary Vaynerchuk, Bernadette Doyle, Fabienne Frederickson, Yanik Silver, Carrie Wilkerson or Paul Evans have something in common. They all value personal growth, “me” time and their families. Even though they probably make more money than you right now, even though they live a different lifestyle than you do, they aren’t that much different from you. They love their close ones, value their friendships, they even have their bad days. So what makes them different?

I believe there are couple keys that can help you get more done, change your lifestyle and make your life easier. Let’s mention the most important ones to help you get started.

How To Be a Go-Getter

Author: Silvia Pencak

“Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it. ” Salvador Dali
I know, I know… Nothing is perfect, it’s just waste of my time, but what if I just can’t help it? What if I really CAN do everything better than anyone else, what if I just add couple more sentences… and maybe find another picture… If you can’t let go unfinished task, you can’t trust other people’s expertise and you can’t sleep at night because there’s still plenty of work waiting for you at your desk, in the kitchen or somewhere else, we need to “talk”.

Do not understand me wrong. I like job well done and I appreciate job well done, but striving for “perfect” will wear you down. Think for a minute. How much did you really get done today? And how about this week? This month? If you’re ready to get more done, check …… Read the rest

Living a Dream Life

Author: Silvia Pencak

It’s been a couple of weeks since we moved into our new house. Challenging as the move can be, I must admit that I’m loving our new place. View from our master bedroom (see the picture) is gorgeous! I feel like I’m still dreaming when I open my eyes in the morning.

We always used to have small rooms, small space and it seems I became a master in making the most out of small spaces. But here I am in 4,000 sq. feet house with my kids telling their friends they must be princesses because they live in a real castle. Ha-ha. Next week we’ll be celebrating 4 years since coming to Canada and unbelievable as it seems we’re loving what we live.

Does it mean that we are where we want to be? Does it mean that we’ve achieved all we wanted? Of course not! But we certainly …… Read the rest

Why Would You Want To Live Longer?

Author: Dr. Daisy Sutherland

Why does it seem that we are obsessed with living longer?

Have you ever watched the infomercials out? They seem to all be targeted to losing weight, and looking younger!!!

Do we really need the quick fix? Unfortunately it seems like we do…or one would think so because of all the commercials, infomercials and ads out on the market…

What we should be concerned with is our health, not what we look like on the outside but what we are like on the inside…

It may be wonderful to look thin and slim and wrinkle-free but truly how healthy are we?

We need to worry about the food we eat and the amount…the types of food and the amount of exercise…

That is truly the only way to stay healthy!! Sure, we want the quick fix, but honestly how long did it take for us to get to the weight that we are? …… Read the rest
